"The goal of the Art Department is for students to develop skills using various media and to gain an appreciation of art and art history in order to become well-rounded individuals in today’s society. Each course emphasizes creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving."
"Who We Are: We are makers. We are thinkers. We are observers. We are participants. We are provocateurs. We are explorers. We are learners. We look back. We look forward. We look inward. We look outward. We are diverse, challenging, independent, and supportive. We are Wissahickon. We are art."

Philosophy of Art Curriculum
Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade

Our Arts in Education Philosophy aims to provide all students with knowledge of, and skills in the Arts. We provide our students with the essence of our civilization, that enrich our world. Art also provides students with the tools they need to understand, create, and broaden their ability to communicate through other mediums when making critical choices and judgments.
How can we best educate our students for these skills? Inquiry, tolerance, synthesis, experimentation, the creation of order out of disorder - all necessary ingredients in the progress and well being of society – are the lifeblood of the arts, developed both in performance and “appreciation.” This is the direction and contents of the Arts in Education Program in the Neshaminy School District.

"The Art program at Jenkintown Middle and High School is designed to help students understand the elements and principles of art through a focus on Studio Art projects and the study of Art History, Aesthetics, and Art Criticism.
The Middle School Program serves to establish a fundamental understanding of art making processes, while providing an introduction to Art History.
The High School Program provides students with the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of art making processes, Art History, and Art Criticism. Students are encouraged to develop their uniquely personal "voice" as they grow in their ability to visually communicate."
